Equity Bank Kenya has announced a temporary system downtime affecting Equitel and Agency Banking services for its customers.
In a notice to customers on March 14, the bank stated that the interruption is due to planned system maintenance scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026, from 1:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. (EAT).
“Due to a planned system maintenance, Equitel and Agency banking services will be unavailable on Monday, 16/3/2026 1:00 am – 2:00 am EAT,” read part of the notice.
However, the lender clarified that all other banking services will remain available during the maintenance period.
The bank apologized for any inconvenience the temporary disruption may cause customers.
At the same time, Equity reminded customers to remain vigilant against fraud, noting that the bank contacts clients only through one official phone number: 0763 000 000.
Customers were cautioned not to share sensitive banking details such as PINs, passwords, one-time passwords (OTPs), or card information with anyone via phone calls or SMS.
Alternatives Equity Bank Users Can Explore During System Downtime
Equity customers can still access services by dialing *247# from any mobile network, allowing them to conveniently make payments and perform other transactions.
By dialing *247#, users can still manage their accounts, view balances, and access statements.
The service also allows customers to pay bills to popular billers, purchase goods and services, and easily apply for or manage loans.
Another option is to access your account through the Equity Bank mobile app.

The app allows users to self-register for mobile banking services. Customers can view and download their account statements, send money to their own accounts, other Equity accounts, or other banks in real time, and transfer funds to mobile wallets such as M-Pesa, Airtel Money, and T-Kash.
The app also enables users to download transaction receipts and statements, as well as buy airtime and data for Equitel, Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom lines.

Contact Centre Experiences Temporary Downtime
On March 12, the Bank reported that its Contact Centre number (0763 000 000) was experiencing intermittent service downtime.
The bank said its technical team was working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and thanked customers for their patience.
In the meantime, customers were advised to reach out through Equity Bank’s digital channels for assistance.
