Euniece Wanjiru Njoki, popularly known by her stage name Mammito, is one of Kenya’s most celebrated female comedians.
Born on September 18, 1993, in Laini Saba, Kibera, she grew up in the same neighborhood and has since become a household name in comedy, not just in Kenya but across Africa.
Mammito is the firstborn in a family of three siblings, two girls and one boy.
She was raised by her mother, Nancy Njoki, who worked as a tailor. Her father was absent throughout her life, and Mammito has often credited her mother’s resilience and humor as the foundation for her own comedic journey.
Notably, her mother gave birth to her at just 15 years old, a fact Mammito often uses as material in her routines.
Education
Mammito’s early education began at Laini Saba Primary School in Kibera, where she studied from 2001 to 2007.
She later joined Gatero Secondary School in Nyahururu, attending from Form One to Form Three (2008–2010), before transferring to PCEA Silanga High School in Kibera, where she completed her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
After high school, Mammito enrolled at Mount Kenya University (MKU) in Thika between 2015 and 2016, where she pursued a diploma in Community Development and Social Work.

Family and Personal Life
Mammito was previously in a relationship with fellow comedian Eddie Butita, the founder of Stage Presence Media.
The two, however, later parted ways.
Mammito welcomed her baby girl in March 2025.
Career of Mammito
Before entering comedy, Mammito worked at Kenyatta Market, where she offered manicures and pedicures and assisted her grandmother in selling clothes in Kenol, Murang’a.
She also joined a community group called Pillars of Kibera, which performed traditional dances and poems at the National Theatre and during national celebrations.
Her big break came in 2015 when she auditioned for the Churchill Show, Kenya’s biggest comedy platform.
After several attempts, she was finally accepted while still a student at MKU.
From then on, Mammito established herself as a unique voice in comedy, performing both stand-up and sketch comedy.
Her stage name, “Mammito,” is a slang term for “beautiful lady,” a nickname she picked up from her close circle of friends.

Over the years, she has become one of the most recognized female comedians in East Africa, often crediting her ability to make jokes to her mother’s influence.
Mammito’s success has grown beyond Kenya. She has performed on international stages in Swaziland, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, often switching seamlessly between Kiswahili, Sheng, and English.
She also made history by becoming the first African female comedian to surpass one million Instagram followers, cementing her influence as a leading digital entertainer.
Beyond comedy, Mammito is passionate about giving back to her community.
She founded Kibera Creative Arts (KICA), a community-based organization that supports the Kibera community through the arts both economically and socially.
KICA focuses on content production, performing arts, art and craft, and mentorship programs.
One of its projects, Made in Kibera, records and produces music, and notably manages popular musician Stivo Simple Boy, whose career has grown under its wing.
From her humble beginnings in Kibera to performing on international stages, Mammito has carved her space in Kenya’s comedy industry.
She has redefined the role of women in stand-up, proving that comedy is male-dominated. Through her humor, creativity, and community initiatives, Mammito continues to inspire the next generation of artists and comedians, both in Kibera and across Africa.
