Football fans have forced their way into Nyayo Stadium moments before the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Harambee Stars and Gabon.
Videos circulating online show large crowds pushing through entry points. Some fans have climbed over the stadium barriers to gain access to the seats.

The excitement surrounding the match has been building throughout the day and the tickets to the game were sold out on March 22.
Moreover, many supporters arrived at the stadium hours before kickoff but were unable to enter due to congestion at the gates.

It remains unclear if any injuries or arrests were reported. The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has yet to release an official statement on the incident.
The match will be Harambee Stars’ first competitive home match since November 2021. It is scheduled to kick off at 4 pm.

FKF Advise to Football Fans Who Missed Tickets
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) CEO Harold Ndege while announcing tat the tickets to the game were sold out, urged fans who have not bought tickets to watch matches on television.
Additionally, he said that the federation in collaboration with security agencies, had put adequate measures in place to ensure only fans who have a ticket access the match venue.
“We urge fans who have not bought tickets to watch matches on television. KBC will broadcast the match for free,.
“We will have a security buffer extending to within a radius of 300-500 metres from the stadium to ensure that only fans with a ticket access the venue,” Ndege said.

Nyayo Stadium Game Tickets Sold Out
FKF had made 21,900 tickets available for sale. Among them were 100 VVIPs going for Ksh10,000 VIP tickets, which were 1,800 in number, were sold at Ksh1,000.
The remaining 21,000 were for the terraces, which were purchased at Ksh300.
Moreover, FKF has organized a lineup of music and entertainment to keep supporters engaged ahead of the 4 PM kickoff.
The main act is expected to be Savara from the popular music group Sauti Sol.
“Besides Savara, there will be additional performances, along with a DJ to keep the energy high,” said Ndege, hinting that FKF has also lined up a surprise halftime entertainment act for the fans.
