Ngatia is a seasoned litigation advocate born in 1956 in Laikipia County currently 68 years old.
He graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1979. In 1980 he received a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and that same year he was admitted to the Roll of Advocates.
Due to his immense potential and best academic performance in the legal profession, he emerged among the top six students selected from the Kenya School of Law to join the Attorney General’s office.

He received a Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics, University of London in 1984. In 2019 he received a Master of Applied Philosophy & Ethics from Strathmore University.

Ngatia’s legal career commenced at the Attorney General’s office where he was presented with two choices criminal prosecution and civil litigation. He opted for civil litigation, a decision that has come a long way in shaping his future career. He succeeded in handling significant cases in his early work inclusive of a boundary conflict between Sidan and Kenya.
In addition, he has been involved in several iconic cases in the Kenyan context. He was the lead counsel for former President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2013 and 2017 presidential election petitions. The two cases were integral in defining the legal prospect of electoral disputes in Kenya.
Additionally, he served as Senior State Counsel at the State Law Office from 1980 to 1987 when he went into private practice as a partner at Kagia & Ngatia Advocates. From 1996 to date, he is the sole proprietor of Ngatia and Associates.
Ngatia’s Role in Presidential Election
Ngatia was instrumental in the two presidential petitions that challenged the victory of President Uhuru in 2013 and 2017 respectively. Bid for Chief Justice Position
