Plan to Revive Coffee Sector
Gachagua has championed for reforms in the coffee and tea sector, taking up the duties delegated to him by President William Ruto.
In 2023, he made several trips including flying to Colombia, to enhance the network of Kenyan farmers with global players in the coffee market.
Also, in Colombia, he attended the Global Coffee Producers and Roasters Forum, in an attempt to strengthen bilateral relations with the South American country during his visit.
The announcement comes at a time of political unrest in the country, especially concerning the budget allocated to the head of state and his leadership for foreign trips.
However, the DP has reiterated his commitment and trust in the Head of State, saying that he will be able to successfully address the concerns raised by the youth in the country.
“When they have issues, we cannot ignore them; we must listen. They are the future and present of this country. This country belongs to them, so if we don’t listen to them, who will we listen to?” he said.
“I have asked the two Gen Z in my home (the two sons) to create a forum because they know these things so that I start listening to the youth and become a better person,” he said on June 30.
