Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua hosted members of the Linda Mwananchi movement at his Wamunyoro residence hours after returning from the United States, amid discussions of a possible political alliance between his Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) and the movement.
In a public Facebook post, Gachagua welcomed the visitors, calling them his “cousins from Linda Mwananchi.”
“When we come together, great things must happen,” he added, hinting at the significance of the meeting.
The meeting comes amid earlier discussions about a possible coalition between DCP and Linda Mwananchi, although the post did not announce a formal agreement between the two sides.
How Gachagua and Sifuna Plan to Unite Opposition Forces Ahead of 2027
Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) and Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi movement are pursuing a possible partnership ahead of the 2027 General Election, with plans to negotiate a broader opposition coalition.

DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala said the party would first partner with Linda Mwananchi before engaging other opposition formations in coalition talks.
“We as DCP cannot join the Ukombozi Alliance. They should join together as TUA, while we in the DCP will join Sifuna. Then we will negotiate together for one coalition,” Malala said.
Linda Mwananchi is a political movement associated with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna. Siaya Governor James Orengo is among the other political figures linked to the movement.
DCP’s proposed approach would have it negotiate with Linda Mwananchi first before engaging the wider opposition, including parties associated with the Ukombozi Alliance, to establish a joint coalition ahead of the 2027 polls.
Sifuna’s Direct Link to Gachagua Emerges as DCP Clarifies Opposition Alliance Plans
In a post on October 20, Abigael Gikonyo, a member of the Linda Mwananchi movement’s Digital, Media and Publicity Team, weighed in on the meeting, disputing claims that DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala had facilitated the engagement between the two sides.

Gikonyo claimed that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna had direct access to and contact with Gachagua, suggesting that the interaction between the two political camps did not depend on Malala’s involvement.
“Malala did not facilitate the meeting, though, Kiongozi. Sifuna has direct access to and contact with Riggy G! Don’t reduce our presidential candidate like that, surely, man. This does not help Malala at all. Respectfully, though,” Gikonyo said
Her remarks came amid discussions about a possible partnership between Gachagua’s DCP and Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi movement ahead of the 2027 General Election.
