President William Ruto on Thursday, July 11, sacked all Cabinet Secretaries (CS) and Attorney General Justin Muturi.

The President made the announcement at State House Nairobi in an address to the nation in which he noted that only Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) Musalia Mudavadi would be spared in the dismissal of members of the Cabinet.

State House has since removed all dismissed members of the Cabinet from its Website, with only President Ruto, Deputy President DP Gachagua, PCS Mudavadi and Mercy Kiiru Wanjau, the secretary to the Cabinet, retained.

Following the announcement, former CSs that were affected by the dismissal have since reacted. The Kenya Times compiled different reactions from the former ministers.

Ex-Trade CS Rebecca Miano (9:07 PM)

“This is a perfect day to express gratitude! Nasema Asante! My deepest gratitude to His Excellency President William Ruto for granting me the opportunity to serve the people of Kenya and my beloved mother land for the last 21 months as Cabinet Secretary. I am a tad wiser and carry with me profound lessons and cherished memories. Thank you all and God Bless.”

Ex-Health CS Susan Nakhumicha (9:01 PM)

“I am grateful to H.E The President for giving me the opportunity to lead the rollout of Universal Health Coverage (UHC), which is one of the Government’s flagship programs.

It has been a busy 21 months where we initiated far-reaching reforms in the health sector, both legislatively and policy-wise, to lay a firm foundation for the realization of UHC. Proud of Ministry of Health team who midwifed these reforms, development partners and the legislature that passed the bills,” said Nakhumicha.

“Thanks to the Health workers for the support and my heart goes out to Community Health Promoters who made our mantra “Afya Nyumbani”. To those I didn’t meet your expectations, I take it that life is a learning experience,” she added.

Ex-Attorney General Justin Muturi (8:58 PM)

“I am deeply grateful for the honor of serving as the Attorney General of Kenya under His Excellency, President William Ruto. It has been a privilege to work alongside dedicated colleagues in service to our great nation, Kenya.

It was a great honor to me, and I shall forever remain beholden to him and Kenyans at large for bestowing upon me the onerous duty of serving our great Nation in a most honorable responsibility.

By such an opportunity, you honored women, Kitui County and more so Kitui South Constituency that had never produced a Cabinet Secretary since independence. You have the best of Kenya at heart. May the Lord guide and use you to fulfil His agenda for Kenya.”

During my tenure, I have witnessed firsthand President Ruto’s genuine commitment to the rapid transformation of our country. His vision and dedication to progress are clear and unwavering.

As a leader with considerable experience, I understand the necessity behind the President’s decision to dismiss all members of his cabinet. Such decisions, though difficult, are often imperative for the greater good.
