The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday May 25 arrested three Kenyan suspects at their residence in Donholm, Nairobi, and seized 298 pellets of cocaine.
In a statement on May 26, the DCI said the cocaine, weighing approximately 6.8 kg with a street value of Ksh 27.5 million was discovered during a police crackdown on drug traffickers.
The operation also saw the officers retrieve several air tickets to different destinations under the name of the female suspect.
“As the DCI tightens the noose on drug traffickers, three suspects found with 298 pellets of cocaine have been arrested at their house in New Donholm area, Nairobi,” read part of the DCI statement.
“298 pellets of the nose candy weighing about 6.8kg estimated at Sh27.5 million in street value were discovered, alongside several air tickets for different destinations in the name of the female suspect.”

Furthermore, the detectives revealed that the cocaine pellets were hidden inside three teddy bears and placed in a black suitcase.

“Acting on intelligence, Sharon Debra Achieng’, 25, Leon Ochieng’, 28, and Ronald Onyango, 25, were intercepted yesterday by a team of ANU and OSU crime busters with a black suitcase containing a few clothes, toiletries, and three teddy bears,” the statement further read.
Additionally, the officers found Ksh 37,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade.
The DCI indicated that they were acting on a tip-off from members of the public under the #FichuakwaDCI who shared the information on the three as running a suspicious syndicate
The detectives further warned traffickers that their misplaced efforts will only earn them tickets to courtrooms and correctional facilities.

Detectives Recover a Loaded AK47 Rifle and Bhang in Meru
Elsewhere, detectives are pursuing Geoffrey Thiranira a 29-year-old suspected violent robber and drug trafficker in Murunya area of Mutuati, Meru County.
An AK47 rifle loaded with a magazine of 20 live rounds, and a bale of bhang hidden at a chimney were found in his house.
“Acting on a tip-off, Anti-Narcotics detectives augmented by their Transnational Organized Crimes Unit counterparts raided the two-bedroom house of the suspect (Geoffrey Thiranira), where upon search the rifle loaded with a magazine of 20 live rounds and a bale of bhang were found,” DCI said in a statement.
However, the suspect, who likely learned of the police presence, escaped, but the detectives are actively pursuing him.
