How to Prepare for Police Recruitment Physical Fitness Test

Physical fitness is one of the primary requirements considered by the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) during the recruitment process.

NPSC has set a threshold for medical and psychological fitness for all potential applicants.

Of the medical and psychological fitness parameters set, there is a height and weight specification for the candidates.

For women, a height of 5.3 feet is the minimum requirement, and they must weigh no less than 50 kg.

Pregnancy during the recruitment phase, including the entire training duration, is a disqualifying factor.

The overall BMI across all applicants is to be within the acceptable threshold and also not possess hearing impairment, eyesight problems, skin ailments, or internal wounds.

• Overall Health

The applicant must be in good mental and physical health.

To qualify, the applicant must have no physical deformities or injuries.

There should be no chronic ailments such as asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, or heart disease.

• Hearing and Vision

The applicants’ vision and hearing must be within the normal range.

Moreover, candidates are required to have good eyesight, provided they do not rely on corrective lenses.

In addition to the normal vision, there should not be squint, colour blindness, or any significant eye defects.

• Dental & Skin

Teeth and gums must be healthy.

Serious dental decay, gum disease, or poor oral hygiene are not permitted.

They should not have severe malocclusion, crooked teeth, or jaw misalignment.

They should also not have missing teeth or artificial dentures.

• Weight, Height, and BMI

Applicants should ensure they meet the necessary weight, height, and BMI requirements.

Candidates cannot alter their natural height.

However, a balanced diet and regular exercise can help control weight and BMI.

Applicants should work on their weight and BMI, whether it is to reduce or increase, to avoid elimination.

• Skin Conditions

Additionally, candidates must be free of infectious or chronic skin conditions.

These conditions include severe acne, vitiligo, psoriasis, eczema, and fungal infections.

Additionally, they must not have any visible tattoos, particularly on exposed body parts like the hands, arms, legs, face, or neck.

• Injuries & Scars

They must also be free of burns, scars, and surgical abnormalities that could restrict their ability to serve.

Applicants should not have a history of mobility-impairing disabilities or severe fractures.
