Extreme Sports Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Vice Chairman of Muranga Seal Football Club (FC), Hussein Mohammed has won the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) presidential seat.
Hussein Mohammed was elected after garnering 42 out of 90 votes. He, however, failed to attain the minimum 50% required to win the election in the first round.
Shortly after the election results were announced, Hussein’s rival Petra Dorris conceded and congratulated Hussein. In her speech, the outgoing FKF Vice President congratulated Hussein Mohammed and wished him well as he took over the FKF leadership.
He will take over from incumbent Nick Mwendwa whose eight-year reign has elapsed.
Mohammed will be deputized by former international footballer, MacDonald Mariga.
The 90 delegates who participated in the voting in of the new FKF president include 46 FKF county chairmen, 18 Football Kenya Federation Premier League clubs, 10 National Super League clubs and 10 FKF Division One men’s clubs.
The others were, three FKF Women’s Premier League clubs, two FKF National Women’s Super League clubs and Kenya Footballers Welfare Association.
Hussein Mohammed in Football
Hussein has been involved in the development of football in the country over the past two decades through the grassroots Super 8 tournament.

Hussein Mohammed has managed football both at the grassroots and top levels through his company, Extreme Sports, which collaborated with the FKF on the Super 8 Tournament and engaged in other sponsorships.
Mohammed founded Extreme Sports, a retail and distribution company specializing in action and endurance sports, in 2004.
According to its website, the company was established with the vision of becoming one of the Middle East’s top retailers and distributors of some of the world’s best sports brands.
The company deals in a wide range of products, including bicycles, footwear, action sports gear, water sports equipment, and other endurance sports-related products.

Mohammed Unveils Vision for FKF
During his declaration of candidacy for the FKF presidency, Hussein Mohammed outlined a comprehensive vision for the future of Kenyan football. Key pillars of his vision include the development of grassroots infrastructure, restructuring the national league, and tackling the issue of hooliganism.
Other major components of his plan focus on the establishment of football academies, branding and marketing of local clubs, and a strong stance against match-fixing at all levels of the game.
Among his proposals is the reversion of the national league to the Kenya Premier League (KPL), aiming to enhance its professionalization and commercialization. He also plans to apply this model to women’s football.
Additionally, Mohammed pledged to advocate for the construction of two or three stadiums, with capacities of 5,000 or 10,000 seats, in every county to improve football infrastructure across the country.
