The Inspector General of police Douglas Kanja has confirmed the transfer of popular Kikuyu musician and police officer, Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, popularly known as Samidoh.
Kanja, while speaking to the press, indicated that the singer has been moved from his post at the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) headquarters in Gilgil.
According to the police IG, Samidoh has been moved to a post in Baringo County, where he will join his colleagues in fighting insecurity and persistent banditry in the region.
The announcement came amidst speculation that the transfer may be linked to recent political events and viral content involving the musician.

Samidoh and his One-Term Remarks
Days earlier, a viral video surfaced showing the artist leading a performance of the “Wantam” chant, a political slogan calling for the end of the leadership of President William Ruto.
Therefore, many Kenyans have speculated that the transfer is a disciplinary response disguised as a routine deployment.
However, during a press briefing held on Wednesday, IG Kanja insisted that the transfer was part of standard operational procedures within the police service.
On Thursday May 22, the singer shared a cryptic post shared on social media noting that he would die unexpectedly and feared that his life was in danger.
However, he pulled down the post after a few hours.
Later, on Friday, May 23 morning, Samidoh was spotted with the Deputy President Kithure Kindiki in his office in Karen, Nairobi.
According to Kindiki, alongside other musicians, they discussed several matters including how the Government could support their work and the industry as a whole.
“The Creative industry is a multibillion-shilling business and constant engagement with performing artists and all those in that space is imperative to find ways of supporting them through policy and protection of intellectual property rights,” said the DP.

Itumbi’s Comeback Before Kanja’s Move
Following the meeting with kindiki, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua asked Kenyans to stop supporting Samidoh and the other musicians who joined him. Also, he encouraged event organizers to deny them work.
In responce, the Head of President’s Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordination at the president’s office Denis Itumbi wrote a strongly worded letter to Gachagua,
“Mr. Gachagua would stand at a church altar and shamelessly urge Kenyans to unfollow musicians and instruct event venues to deny them work-simply because they supported reason, truth, and government programs meant to uplift the industry, is not just offensive. It is tyrannical,” said Itumbi.
