I&M Bank is a regional commercial bank in East Africa, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. It was founded in 1974 as a financial services company and later converted to a commercial bank.

I&M Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of I&M Group PLC (previously known as I&M Holdings PLC), a public company listed at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

British International Investment, a development finance institution wholly owned by the government of the United Kingdom, owns approximately 10.68% of I&M Group Plc, the holding company of the bank.

I&M Bank’s international network includes Bank One Limited (Mauritius), I&M Bank (T) Limited, Tanzania and I&M Bank (Rwanda) Plc, Rwanda and I&M Bank Uganda Ltd.

As of 30th June 2021, the shareholders of I&M Bank included Minard Holdings Limited (21.59%), Tecoma Limited (18.39%), Ziyungi Limited (17.79%), and CDC Group plc (10.13%), with the remaining 32.09% held by other shareholders.

I&M Group PLC recorded a Profit Before Tax of KES 20.8 billion for the period ended 31 December 2024, representing 25% growth driven by increased operating income and strategic focus on MSME lending and digital transformation.

Loans Offered at I&M Bank

The following are loans offered at the bank;

Personal Loans

  • Unsecured Personal Loan – You can borrow up to KES 10 million without giving any security and repay over up to 8 years.
  • Short-Term Loan – You can borrow up to Ksh 300,000, with no security needed.
  • 30-Day Loan – This is a fast loan for emergencies that you repay in 30 days.
  • Buy Now Pay Later Loan – You can buy items now and repay the loan in 1 to 12 months.

Home Loans

  • Step-Up Home Loan – You can get a loan to buy, build, or renovate a home with flexible repayment options.
  • Miliki Nyumba Loan – A home loan with a fixed 9.5% interest rate, repayable over up to 20 years, to help you own a home.

Car and Asset Loans

  1. Car Loan – Finance of up to 80% on cost over a loan duration of 48 months

Business Loans

  • I&M Bank offers business loans in different currencies. These loans are designed for small and large businesses and are customised to your needs.

Bank Branches

The Bank has a wide network of branches across Nairobi and its environs. These include Kawangware Branch, BBS Mall Eastleigh Branch, Gikomba Branch, GTC Branch, Saifee Park Branch, Cross Road Branch, Dunga Branch, Industrial Area Branch, Biashara Street Branch, One Park Avenue, and Lunga Lunga Branch.

At the same time, 2nd Ngong Avenue Branch, Spring Valley Branch, Eldama Park Branch, Valley Arcade Branch, South C Branch, Lavington Mall, Greenspan Mall, Karen Branch, Ruaraka Branch, Thika Road Mall, Diamond Plaza Shopping Complex, Panari Centre Branch, Sarit Select Centre, Yaya Centre, Village Market Branch, JKIA ATM, Riverside, Sarit Center, and Kenyatta Avenue Branch.

The Bank has several branches outside Nairobi, serving customers across different regions in Kenya. These include the coast, the bank has branches in Nyali Cineplex, Changamwe, Mtwapa, Watamu, Kilifi, Malindi, and Diani.

Moreover, in Central Kenya, there are branches in Kenol, Ruiru, Tatu City, Thika, and Embu.

The Rift Valley region is served by branches in Naivasha, Nakuru, Narok, Nanyuki, and Kericho. In Western Kenya, the bank operates in Kakamega, Bungoma, and Busia, while in Nyanza, it has branches in Kisumu and Kisii.

In Eastern Kenya, I&M Bank has branches in the Gateway Mall (Syokimau), Meru Makutano, and Meru town
