The Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority has published a list of 64 Kenyans with unclaimed financial assets, among them the late Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery.
In a gazette notice dated Friday, October 25, 2025, the Authority announced that claims had been lodged by individuals and estate administrators seeking to recover unclaimed assets of owners or deceased persons.
Among them is Hellen Pilale Nkaissery, the widow of the former Interior Cabinet SecretaryJoseph Kasaine Nkaissery, who has filed a claim for assets registered in his name.
“NOTICE is issued pursuant to Regulation 12 of the Unclaimed Financial Assets Regulations, 2016 that the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority has received claims for unclaimed assets from the following persons claiming as administrators of the estates of deceased persons and agents of the original owners. Further take notice that if no objection has been lodged at the offices of the Authority at the address below within thirty (30) days of the date of this publication, payment will be made to the aforementioned persons,” read part of the gazette notice.

According to the notice, the assets are currently held by HF Group, National Bank of Kenya, and Safaricom Plc, and will be released to the rightful claimant if no objections are raised within 30 days.

About the Former Interior CS
Major-General Joseph Kasaine Ole Nkaissery was a former Kenyan military officer and politician.
Before retiring in December 2002, he was the Commandant of the Armed Forces Training College and GOC Westcom.
Nkaissery was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Kajiado Central Constituency, a seat he held for three consecutive terms.

He was a member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) from 2007 to 2014.
From 2008 to 2013, he served as the Assistant Minister for Defence during the grand coalition government.
In December 2014, President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed him as Cabinet Secretary for the Interior and Coordination of the National Government, a position he held until his death on July 8, 2017.
The late Interior CS reportedly held at least 14 pieces of land in the Kajiado area. He also had land in Kiambogo (two properties), Ilbisil (two properties), Ngong town, Namanga, NoonKopir, Saina Estate, and Ololelian Trading Center in Kajiado.
He also had at least one property in Nakuru.
