Police in Juja, Kiambu County are investigating a case where a man reportedly stabbed his wife to death before turning the knife to himself and cut his own throat.
The middle-aged man reportedly killed his wife by stabbing her in the neck on Saturday, February 17. Homicide detectives, upon an alert from members of the public, arrived at the scene to assess perhaps what could be taken as clues in the investigations.
In photos shared from the scene, a pool of blood had stained the floor of the house the incident took place as an indication of profuse bleeding.
According to witnesses from Mung’etho area in Juja, the man and the wife had been involved in a fight before the tragic turn of events.
Amid the altercation, the wife ran to one of their neighbors’ houses for safety in an attempt to flee from the machete wielding man. The man, however, followed her to the house where he stabbed the woman to death before attempting to take his own life.
The Juja case adds to a now alarming list of homicides and relationship-related deaths in the country. Juja area has been among the most affected with several cases reported within a short span of time.
Insecurity in Juja
Earlier in the week, a family in the area came out demanding justice for their kin who died under mysterious circumstances. Speaking to the media, a family member disputed the explanation given about the cause of their kin’s death, noting that her death was framed to appear as if it was a case of suicide.

According to the family member, the body of her family member, a woman aged 35 years, was found with a rope around her neck giving the impression that she could have taken her own life through strangulation.
But upon viewing the body in the mortuary, the relatives identified what they called head injuries and consequently pointed to the conclusion that perhaps the deceased had been attacked before her death.

In the media interview, the family intimated that the deceased had been involved in a land dispute with another man and that they had a case on the same.
In 2023, cases of femicide and domestic violence have been rampant, raising an alarm on the trajectory the country has taken.
Whereas the cases cut across both genders, women were the leading victims in some of the cases that earned prominence in the media. Soon after resuming sessions last week, Members of Parliament came out to condemn the surging cases of femicide and called for proactive measures to protect women and girls in the country.
