The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has announced the resumption of examination bookings following a temporary suspension that allowed for a system upgrade.
The authority assured candidates and stakeholders that examination services are back on track, with new exam dates already scheduled.
The disruption, which affected candidates whose exam bookings were either canceled or left pending, was part of an initiative to modernize and automate the KCAA’s examination system.
While the automation is not yet fully operational, KCAA has reinstated manual bookings to avoid further delays.
“All candidates whose bookings were canceled during the suspension have been contacted and rescheduled,” the KCAA said in a statement released on September 23.
“New examination dates are commencing on Tuesday, 23rd September 2025. Candidates with pending bookings without invoices have also been contacted, rescheduled and their invoices are currently being processed.”

The suspension had caused uncertainty among aviation trainees and professionals, who rely on timely certification to progress in their careers.

The authority sought to address these concerns by providing clarity on the next steps and reiterating its commitment to uninterrupted services.
“While the booking process was expected to transition to the automated system, the process has not yet gone live,” the statement added.
“ICT is finalizing the system upgrade and will advise on a launch date. In the interim, manual booking will continue to ensure uninterrupted service to candidates.”
Exam Timetables
According to the current examination calendar, the next available exam date is Thursday, October 2, 2025.
The move to upgrade the system is part of KCAA’s ongoing effort to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in its services.
The delay in fully transitioning to the automated platform has necessitated the authority’s temporary maintenance of its manual operations.

KCAA’s Director General, Emile N. Arao, expressed appreciation for the public’s understanding during the transition.
“KCAA appreciates the patience and understanding of all candidates and stakeholders during this transition period,” he said. “We reaffirm our commitment to delivering efficient and reliable examination services.”
The authority explained that manual bookings are being managed actively to avoid any backlog and that communication with candidates remains a top priority.
The eventual rollout of the automated system is expected to streamline the booking process and improve the candidate experience.
