The Kenya Meteorological (Kenya Met) Department has released a seven-day weather outlook for the period between 21st and 27th January 2025.
Kenya Met predicts that mainly sunny and dry weather conditions are expected to prevail over most parts of the country. In particular, Kenya Met has warned that daytime heat is expected to be over 30°C in the Coast, North-eastern, North-western, and parts of the South-eastern lowlands.
On the other hand, chilly nights of temperatures below 10°C are expected in the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and South-eastern lowlands.
However, a few areas, including the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley, Nairobi, the Lake Victoria Basin, the South Rift Valley, and the South-eastern lowlands, may experience occasional rainfall, particularly towards the end of the forecast period.
Mainly sunny intervals are expected to prevail during the day in areas around the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley and parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley.
A few areas are likely to experience morning rains, afternoon showers and thunderstorms towards the end of the forecast period.
At the same time, nights are expected to be partly cloudy, though a few areas may experience showers towards the end of the forecast period.
Kenya Met Rift Valley Weather Forecast
Counties is these regions include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok Counties.
The North Rift Valley and parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley will experience sunny intervals during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
This region consists of Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Baringo and West-Pokot Counties.
According to the weatherman, sunny conditions are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy in Turkana and Samburu.
Nairobi & it Environs
Kenya Met went on to state that mainly sunny intervals are expected to prevail during the day in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi County.
However, a few areas are likely to experience morning rains and afternoon showers towards the end of the forecast period.

Nights are expected to be partly cloudy, though a few areas may experience showers towards the end of the forecast period.
Other counties in this region include Nyandarua, Nyeri, Laikipia, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka-Nithi.
Northeastern
Sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy in North-eastern Kenya.
This includes Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties.
South-eastern
Similarly, mainly sunny intervals are expected to prevail during the day in the South-eastern lowlands.
However, a few areas are likely to experience morning rains and afternoon showers towards the end of the forecast period.
Nights are expected to be partly cloudy though a few areas may experience showers towards the end of the forecast period.
The counties in this region are Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River.
Coast
Sunny intervals are expected to persist in this region throughout most of the day, with a few areas potentially experiencing light morning showers.
“Nights are expected to be partly cloudy,” Kenya Met said.
Counties in this region include Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as the coastal parts of Tana- River County.

Temperature Forecast
Average daytime maximum temperatures exceeding 30°C are expected over the Coast, Northeastern, Northwestern regions, and parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, as well as the Southeastern lowlands.
Night-time minimum temperatures are expected to drop below 10°C in some areas of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley, and the Southeastern lowlands.
