A 29-year-old Kenyan man, J. Gekonge Daniel, has died in India after suffering severe head injuries sustained during a tragic fall in Salem, India.
Daniel had been undergoing treatment at the Salem Government Hospital since April 27 and succumbed to his injuries on Monday, May 13.
Earlier, he had been enrolled at a private college in Salem but reportedly discontinued his studies and was living in a rented home in the Kannankurichi area.
He shared the residence with a 33-year-old Ugandan woman, S. Nabukeera Hellen.

What Happened to the Kenyan Man?
According to preliminary police reports, the incident occurred when Daniel was speaking on the phone while sitting on the edge of a side wall at their residence.
Further, he is said to have been in an inebriated state when he lost his balance and fell, sustaining critical head injuries.
Neighbours and Helen quickly responded and arranged for his transfer to the Salem Government Hospital, where he remained in intensive care for over two weeks.
However, despite medical efforts, Daniel passed away on Monday.
Police from Kannankurichi station have registered a case and are conducting further investigations to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Although foul play is not currently suspected, authorities are awaiting post-mortem results and statements from those close to the victim.

Efforts are underway to reach Daniel’s family in Kenya and coordinate the repatriation of his remains.
It is not clear whether the Kenyan High Commission in New Delhi has been notified of the incident.
Woman Dies in Canada
In another incident, a Kenyan asylum seeker died in February after she waited hours in the cold to get into a shelter space.
According to reports from Canada, Delphina Ngigi, a 46-year-old widow and mother of four from arrived in the country and sought accommodation at the Dundas Shelter in the Peel Region at around 1 p.m.
Despite the urgent need for shelter, she was not admitted until 8 p.m. that evening. The following day, she suffered a medical emergency and was rushed to the hospital, where she later died.
