The liquidator of Hashi Energy has invited bids as it sells the company’s valuable assets across the country including land, buildings and vehicles.
In a notice, the liquidator asked interested bidders to submit their expression of interest for the competitive sale of the items.
Additionally, the liquidator asked interested bidders to demonstrate the ability to make full payment within the set timelines and specified that bids are required in US Dollar terms.
“The sale is subject to a reserve price for each property. Sale is by means of Sale Agreement providing for 15% nonrefundable down payment and the balance within 60 days from the date of the Sale Agreement,” the notice read in part.

Hashi Energy property on Sale
The liquidator has put on sale a 3.00 acres piece of land in Changamwe, Mombasa County, with a lease running for 60 years from December 1, 2009.
Moreover, the land has a Cold Storage Warehouse, administrative blocks among other facilities.
“The improvements on the land are Cold Storage Warehouse (29,700 sq ft), Maintenance Warehouse (3,600sq ft), 2 Administrative/Office Blocks (3,000sq ft and 1,010 sq ft), Canteen/staff changing block and transformer house. The total length of the perimeter walling. is 400 meters,
“Cold Storage Facility on LR Number 9695/3-There is a modern cold storage facility on 3 acres and consists of Anteroom, Frozen Room and Chiller Room. The warehouse is fitted with several cold-room, air-cooler and evaporator units,” explained the notice.
At the same time, Hashi Energy’s 1.447 acres parcel of land with a 58-year lease from January 1997 has been put on sale. The land is located in Changamwe, Mombasa County and has eight cylindrical LPG tanks/bullets and a 2.5-metre-high wall boundary.
On the other hand, the petroleum company’s 26 plots in Kisumu are up for grabs. Each plot is ranging from 0.075-0.128 acres. Located in the industrial area, the plots have adequate water supply, electricity and sewer connections.

Also in Kisumu, the company is selling off an underdeveloped 0.1605 acre piece of land that is being used as a parking yard, and a 0.4644-acre land with a 3-bedroom bungalow and servant quarters located in Milimani area.
In Nanyuki a 0.1722 acres land with a double storey open plan office block, a warehouse and a compressor shed, a0.1722 acres piece of land with an LPG shed, a Genset Room and LPG cage are up for grabs.
Other items advertised in the notice include a Gas Cylinder Revalidation Plant on LR 209/4051 Nanyuki Road, Nairobi in good working condition, 31 units Prime Movers SITRAK model of SinoTruk (27 in Mombasa, 3 in Eldoret and 1 in Nairobi), and parcel of land.
Billionaire Ahmed Hashi and how he started his business
When Ahmed Hashi started the company, it was a kerosene distributor for Chevron Kenya. At the time, the company supplied African regions such as Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) markets with the product using kerosene jerry cans.
In the mid-1990s, the company expanded its operations by acquiring depots in western Kenya and expanding its reach to the export market in East and Central Africa.
In 2008, the company was rebranded to Hashi Energy, broadening its scope to include the importation, distribution, and marketing of petroleum products, including bulk trading and service stations.

On March 10, 2023, Hashi Energy issued a notice to its creditors, calling for a meeting to consider and pass a resolution for the company to be wound up voluntarily, and KVSK Sastry was appointed as the liquidator to oversee the process.
