The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs has issued a warning to Kenyans living in Lebanon because of unrest and bombing.
In a statement, the ministry has expressed concern for the violence unfolding in the country asking those who are in a position to leave the country to do so immediately.
Consequently, it has noted that it is continuing evacuation processes for Kenyans in the country asking them to register urgently.
“Kenyans in Lebanon, kindly call these numbers for evacuation and logistics coordination,” indicated the state department.

Govt Issues Emergency Contacts and Registration for Kenyans
Kenyans in Lebanon has been asked to register with the ministry for the evacuation process.

Additionally, the ministry has asked individuals with family members in the West Asian country to call for ease or coordination.

“Or visit our offices at the Old Mutual Building, Ground floor along Upper Hill Road,” added the statement.
Further, the government has called on all Kenyans abroad to help spread the message to help save those stuck in the country.
“We are also requesting Kenyans in the Diaspora to help convey this information to as many people as possible especially our brothers and sisters in Lebanon,” the statement reads in part.

What is Happening in Lebanon
Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have in the recent days resulted in the deaths of over 600 people and left thousands injured, following a widespread bombing campaign.
The strikes were in response to two attacks that caused Hezbollah’s communication devices, such as pagers and walkie-talkies, to explode.
Moreover, Hezbollah has retaliated by launching hundreds of rockets at Israel, including one aimed at Tel Aviv.
Israeli Army General Herzi Halevi, has since instructed troops to prepare for a ground invasion, stating that they “will enter enemy territory, including villages that Hezbollah has fortified as large military outposts.”
On Wednesday, September 25, the US, UK and EU called for a temporary ceasefire in Lebanon, proposing an immediate 21-day ceasefire to provide space for diplomacy towards the conclusion of a diplomatic settlement.
In a joint statement, they said the hostilities were “intolerable” and presented an “unacceptable risk of a broader regional escalation” that did not serve the interest of the people of Israel or Lebanon.
