KNEC Opens Applications for 2025 Junior School Examiners Training; How to Apply

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced training of examiners for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA).

The training is scheduled to take place between July and August 2025.

It will be conducted in two phases, online and in-residence, and aims to equip qualified teachers with the skills to assess junior secondary learners in line with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

Shortlisted applicants will pay a training fee of Ksh10,500 and will receive payment instructions via SMS and through the KNEC portal.

The training covers a range of subjects, including English (Composition), Kiswahili (Insha), Mathematics, Integrated Science, Agriculture, Christian and Islamic Religious Education, Creative Arts and Sports, and Pre-technical Studies.

“This initiative is part of KNEC’s continued effort to strengthen the quality and credibility of national assessments in the CBC era,” announced the examination body in a public notice.

Requirements from KNEC

To qualify, applicants must be practicing teachers in the relevant subjects, registered with either the Teachers Service Commission or Public Service Commission, and possess at least a Diploma in Education.

A minimum of three years teaching experience is required, and applicants must be aged 50 or below.

Tutors from teachers’ colleges and TVET institutions are particularly encouraged to apply for technical papers such as Home Science, Art, and Computer Studies.

A recommendation from the teacher’s head of institution, Clean disciplinary record and commitment to participate in a strictly residential training phase.

How to Apply

Interested candidates are required to apply through the KNEC examiners’ portal at https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke.

Those with CP2 accounts should log into the portal using their usernames and passwords.

Those who have forgotten their CP2 passwords should click on Reset Password button and enter their mobile number in the format (2547********) and submit to get new passwords for logging into the system.

Those without CP2 accounts should click on ‘Create Account’ and follow the instructions to acquire login credentials to access the system.

Upon successful login, the applicants will then complete their personal profile and save. On the dashboard, click on ‘Apply for training’ and all the declared vacancies will be available for the applicants to choose.

Only qualified teachers who have presented all the required documents will be shortlisted for the exercise on a first-come, first served basis.

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Successful trainees will be eligible for future engagement as KJSEA examiners during the national marking exercise later in the year.
