The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced the disposal of obsolete furniture, laboratory equipment and assorted office equipment through a public online auction.
KRA, in a notice on March 11, said that the online auction will take place in five regions across the country.

“Kenya Revenue Authority (K.R.A), in conjunction with Phillips International Auctioneers, shall be selling by public auction the undermentioned obsolete furniture, laboratory equipment and office equipment,” the notice reads in part.
In the Nairobi region, goods to be viewed at the KRA Warehouse, Nairobi Supplies Branch along Likoni Road opposite NTSA include:

Yale Medium Size Safe & Cash Box, Photocopier & Paper Shredder, Compressor, Assorted Cabinets, Assorted Chairs, Assorted Sofa Sets, Assorted Motor Vehicle Tyres, and Assorted Lighting Fittings, Assorted Photocopier Parts, Water Dispenser & Microwave Scraps, Assorted Broken Tiles & Iron Sheets, Steel Metal Pieces, Assorted Broken Wooden Desks & Chairs, Assorted Wooded Timber and Flash Doors, Wooden Chairs, Coat Hangers & Curtain Boxes, Bathtub, Kitchen Sink, Plastic Tanks Water Boiler, Cat Battery & Sanitary Bins, Ceramic Toilets and Wash Hand Basins, among other items.

In the South Rift Region, viewing of the goods will take place at the KRA Warehouse in Nakuru City within Timbercraft (East Africa) Ltd, Industrial Area along Harry Thuku Road.

In the North Rift Region, the viewing will take place in Eldoret City at the Central Board Godown, in Lodwar town KRA office and at Eldoret Airport.
In the Western region, the viewing will take place in Kisumu City at the KRA warehouse within Victoria Business Park along Sabuni Road, opposite the Kisumu Sewerage Treatment Plant.

Goods include Assorted Used Tyres and Tubes, Assorted Iron Furniture, Assorted Motor Vehicle Parts, Assorted used Batteries, Scrap Metal, Assorted Wooden Workstations, Assorted Metallic Cabinets, among other few items.
On the other hand, the auction is set to take place in the Central region where viewing of the goods will take place at the KRA warehouse within Veka Plaza in Nyeri town.
The goods include a Kyocera Printer, Assorted Broken Wooded Boards, Shelves and a Metal Box, Assorted chairs, Tea Urns, Broken Water Dispensers, Used Batteries and Assorted Car Parts.
The auction will take place on Wednesday, March 26, from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
On the other hand, viewing will take place from Tuesday, March 11 to Tuesday, March 25 from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. at the various listed locations across the country or through the websites www.phillipsauctioneers.co.ke and www.kra.go.ke.
How to bid
Interested bidders must pay a refundable deposit of Ksh5,000 in form of a BANKER’S CHEQUE in favor of PHILLIPS INTERNATIONAL AUCTIONEERS or through the KRA PAYBILL NO. to obtain a bidding number.

The declared purchasers must pay the balance directly into the BANK ACCOUNT OF KENYA REVENUE AUTHORITY (KRA) TO BE PROVIDED DURING AUCTION within seven days from the auction date into the same account, failure to which the money received including the deposit will be forfeited.
“We shall adhere to the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act 2015 Section 53 (6) which states ‘’ All procurement and Asset disposal planning shall reserve minimum of 30% of the budgetary allocations for the enterprises owned by women, youth, persons with disabilities and other disadvantaged groups,” the notice adds.
In addition, KRA noted that sale (As-Is-Where-Is-Basis) shall be subject to reasonable reserve prices and that the authority shall hold Pre-Bid Session on March 18 at 11.am through online platform. The link shall be provided in the advertisement provided through www.kra.go.ke.
