The Kenya Revenue Authority has outlined five steps for taxpayers with arrears to follow while settling their balances ahead of the April 30, 2026, deadline.
In a notice shared on X, KRA said that taxpayers must first log in to the iTax portal to clear their arrears before the deadline.
KRA Urges Taxpayers to Clear Arrears
While June 30 remains the deadline for filing tax returns for the previous year, April 30 is the cut-off for settling any outstanding tax balance.
“Not sure where to start with your tax balance? The 30th April deadline is closer than you think, but you’ve got this,” KRA said.
The authority noted that companies are required to pay taxes in four equal installments based on their estimated annual liability, due on or before the 20th day of the 4th, 6th, 9th, and 12th months of the accounting period.
“If your company has last year’s tax balance, the clearance deadline is April 30,” KRA said.

Individual taxpayers, on the other hand, are required to clear outstanding balances in a lump sum, except those with annual tax liabilities exceeding Ksh40,000, who may pay in installments.
KRA emphasized that all payments should be made through the official government paybill number 222222.
“Please make sure you do not make the costly mistake of paying the right amount of money to the wrong receiver. 222222 is our official paybill number,” the authority said.
“Follow these five simple steps to pay for any tax balance and stay fully compliant before time runs out.”
