The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has asked the public to ignore reports that the Director General (DG) that Eng. Silas Kinoti is set to proceed on terminal leave.
In a statement on July 11, KURA said the reports suggesting a looming resignation are false.
“We wish to inform the public that the information circulating on social media alleging that Eng. Silas Kinoti- Director General of Kenya Urban Roads Authority is set to proceed on terminal leave is false. We urge members of the public to disregard this misleading information,” KURA said.
Eng. Kinoti also issued another statement through his social media pages dismissing these claims.
The DG clarified that he is not going on terminal leave and asked the public to disregard the allegations.
“Contrary to the claims being spread, I, Eng. Silas Kinoti, Director General of the KURA, am not proceeding on terminal leave. These allegations are completely false, misleading and should be treated with the disregard they deserve,” Kinoti said.
“The public is hereby urged not to fall prey to misinformation and to rely only on official communication channels for verified updates regarding KURA and its leadership.”
KURA Committed to Deliver
Eng. Kinoti explained that KURA remains focused on developing and maintaining urban roads and every part of the country.
Additionally, Kinoti said he is committed to serving as KURA Director General without any interruption.
“We remain fully committed to our mandate of developing and maintaining quality urban roads infrastructure across the country, and I continue to discharge my duties in that capacity without interruption,” he added.

Eng. Kung’u Ndung’u Resigns from KENHA
The claims came after the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced the resignation of its Director General, Engineer Kung’u Ndung’u.
In a statement on July 11, KeNHA Board of Directors Chairperson Winfrida Ngumi said the board has accepted Kungu’s resignation.
The authority appointed Engineer Luka Kimeli as the Acting Director General effective July 11, 2025.

KeRRA DG Steps Down
Engineer Philemon Kandie also stepped down as the Director General of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA).
KeRRA Board of Directors Chairperson Anthony Ng’ang’a Mwaura announced that Kandie tendered his resignation on Friday, July 11.
The authority picked Engineer Jackson Magondu as the Acting Director General.
Kandie’s resignation comes a week after a petition was filed at the High Court seeking his removal.
The petitioner accused him of financing and coordinating violent, politically motivated protests that swept across the country in June 2025.
