Tourists will have to dig deeper into their pockets as the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is planning to triple park entry fees to Ksh. 2,000 effective January 2024.
According to the park entry fee schedule for public participation, the highest entry fees will be charged at parks like the Nairobi National Park, which is frequented by visitors within the city.
As such, the East African Community (EAC) and resident adults will pay Sh2,000 instead of the usual Ksh. 430 to visit the park during the high season which usually begins in July through to March.
Likewise, adults from international countries will pay $100 (Sh14,335) whereas those from the rest of Africa will part with $50 (Sh7,167) during the high season in the proposed rates.
Moreover, in the proposed rates, KWS will charge EAC and resident adults Ksh2,000 to enter Nairobi National Park during the low season which begins in April through to June.

However, adults from international countries and the rest of Africa will pay $20 (Sh2,867) and $100 (Sh14,335).
The newly proposed rates are triple the usual amount that tourists usually pay to enter the parks.
Adult citizens living in Kenya have been paying Sh430 while children have been paying Sh215.
Non- The resident adults are paying $43 (6,164) while children and students part with $22(Sh3,153) to visit the park.
Premium Park Fees
Parks classified as premium facilities including Amboseli and Lake Nakuru National Park will charge EAC and resident adults Sh1,000 during the high season.
Similarly, adults from the rest of Africa, as well as those from international destinations, will part with $50(Sh7,167) and $100 (Sh14,335) respectively in the new rates.
Furthermore, KWS will collect Sh800 from EAC and resident adults to enter the park during the low season which usually starts from April to June.

Tourists from the rest of the world will pay $35 (Sh5,017) and $80 (Sh11,468) respectively during the low season.
For the premium parks, the wildlife agency has been charging Kenyan adults Ksh 860 while children have been paying Sh215.
Non-Kenyan adults pay $60(Sh8,601) while children pay $35 (Sh5,017).
