Lee Funeral Home was founded in 1987 by John Lee, a British Kenyan who was encouraged to start the business by then-Attorney General Charles Njonjo. Located in Nairobi, the funeral home offers burial, cremation, repatriation, and exhumation services.

It offers personalized burial services, ensuring that each ceremony provides a meaningful and dignified farewell.

The funeral home has been popular for hosting Kenya’s powerful and elite class for many years.

Additionally, the resting place has hosted some of the most powerful and prominent people in their final moments, including the former presidents of Kenya, Daniel Arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki.

Other prominent Kenyans whose bodies were preserved at Kasarani include the late Senator Mutula Kilonzo, former Cabinet Secretary of Education Magoha, former Interior Minister George Saitoti, and Joseph Nkaissery.

Tailored Services at Lee Funeral Home

Lee Funeral Home incorporates religious practices, cultural rites, and personal preferences into each service.

Families are encouraged to consult with the funeral home to ensure their wishes are fully respected.

  • Collection and Preparation of Loved Ones

Upon the passing of a loved one, Lee Funeral Home facilitates timely collection and transfer services.

The team is dispatched promptly to locations such as private residences, hospitals, hospices, airports, seaports, or the scene of an incident.

The funeral home maintains high hygienic standards, ensuring each deceased individual is washed, dressed, groomed, and prepared for a dignified presentation.

  • Pathology and Postmortem Services

The funeral home works with consultant pathologists and laboratories to conduct forensic and clinical investigations, including postmortems, while providing guidance, sensitization, and psychosocial support to families.

  • Private Chapel of Rest

The home features a dedicated private chapel, providing a comforting space for families to perform final rites with respect and privacy.

  • Embalming and Preservation

To preserve the body and allow for dignified presentation, Lee Funeral Home provides embalming services.

This process slows decomposition, allowing for sanitary and presentable preparation. Embalming is also required for repatriation, ensuring compliance with airline and public health regulations.

  • Legal and Logistical Support

As a registered private funeral home, Lee Funeral Home ensures that all documentation and legal requirements for burial, cremation, exhumation, or repatriation are meticulously handled.

The team liaises with foreign offices, airlines, and public health authorities to ensure a seamless process for families.
