The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Nairobi branch has mourned a renowned lawyer following his passing on the night of April 29, 2025. In a statement, the LSK eulogised Joshua Kuli as a dedicated public servant.
“With profound sorrow, the Branch mourns the passing of Wakili Joshua Kuli, whose untimely departure marks the loss of an esteemed legal practitioner, dedicated public servant, and valued member of the legal fraternity.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time,” read part of the statement.
Additionally, the LSK Nairobi branch described Joshua as a highly respected figure whose influence extended beyond the legal profession.
LSK Mourns Joshua Kuli
On his part, Judicial Service Commission (JSC) Commissioner Omwanza Ombati mourned Kuli, saying he was not only a personal friend but also a steadfast believer in the rule of law, which he passionately championed throughout his career.
“I regret to announce the untimely passing of Kuli Joshua on 29th April 2025 while undergoing treatment.
We mourn the loss of a dedicated servant of justice and extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew him. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Ombati said.

Ex KDF Sergeant Career
Joshua Kuli, a renowned advocate of the High Court, passed away on the night of April 29, 2025. He died while undergoing treatment at Emory Hospital, with post-surgery reports indicating that he succumbed to cardiac arrest.
Prior to serving as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, Kuli also played a significant role in the Kenya Defence Forces, where he held the rank of Sergeant. Kuli also worked as a Legal Secretary at the Sri Lanka High Commission in Kenya and at the Nairobi Water Company.

Before his death, Kuli was serving as a member of the LSK Judicial Service Commission Elections Board. Joshua held a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Mount Kenya University and a diploma in law and paralegal studies from the Kenya School of Law.
