The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) in partnership with select media houses has announced July 2023 Industrial Placement Programme.
In particular, the internship programme will run for three months starting August to October 2023. The council will provide a monthly stipend of up to Kshs.15,000 to cater for the students’ upkeep and accommodation.
According to the media regulator, applicants should be final year students from a recognized university or middle-level college.
Secondly, candidates must have a recommendation letter from their university or college.
Thirdly, the applicant must produce academic transcripts for the current academic year of study and produce a valid student identification card.
Lastly, the student should be a member of the MCK with a Student Press Card valid for the year 2023.
Additionally, students eligible for the program are those pursuing a degree or diploma in Journalism, Media Studies, Communication, Digital Media or Public Relations.
The programme seeks to provide journalism students with practical work experience before graduation and preparing them for the job market.

About Industrial Placement Programme
The MCK launched the Industrial Placement Programmme on 16 September 2021.
Its aim is to attract, nurture, develop and retain the most talented people and support them to expand their skills and capabilities.
Subsequently, the MCK has partnered with various media houses including Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), Capital FM, Radio Africa Group, Hope Media, Signs Media, Egerton radio, Radio Arise, Rdio Yetu, Mtaani Radio, Ebru TV, Pamoja FM, Sky FM, Kaya FM, Radio Waumini and many more.

How To Apply
Interested students can apply by submitting all requirements through MCK online portal. The deadline for application is 30 July 2023.
Consequently, MCK cautioned students that it will reject any email submissions and that the media regulator does not charge fees or recruit through agencies.
