Lawyer Dr. Miguna Miguna weighed in on the ongoing debate around the leadership of Nairobi County, involving Governor Johnson Sakaja, Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East legislator Babu Owino, and Westlands lawmaker Tim Wanyonyi.

Wanyonyi declared his interest in the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the 2022 general election, but the Azimio Coalition settled for Polycarp Igathe as its candidate.

Babu Owino has also hinted at vying for the position while Sifuna publicly announced that he is not interested in Sakaja’s position.

Speaking at Obinna Show, Miguna accused Sakaja of corruption stating that Nairobi’s performance is worst compared to the reign governors Evans Kidero and Mike Sonko.

According to Miguna, Sakaja is the worst performing governor and has a disorganized county administration system.

The lawyer accused Sakaja of purchasing houses and properties in different parts of the world including Dubai, London, New York and South Africa with public funds.

Miguna maintained that Sakaja is incompetent and not qualified to serve as the governor hence the ongoing mess in Nairobi.

“The problem is that he is not even qualified and does not know what he is doing. He doesn’t have a qualification to be governor,” he said.

Miguna Dismisses Babu’s Ambition

Besides, Miguna explained that Babu Owino is not fit to succeed Sakaja as the next governor.

Instead, Miguna said Wanyonyi and Sifuna were better candidates than the young MP.

According to Miguna, leadership comes naturally and cannot be acquired forcefully.

He argued that Babu Owino likes drama and active politics which makes him unfit for the position.

“Drama is not governance; he is not even disciplined. You know some of these things you cannot force. Do you really see Babu sitting in an office from 8am to 5pm reading. I don’t see that,” he said.

“What comes out of his mouth has no depth, breadth, or intellectual sophistication for a governor of Nairobi.”

Tim Wanyonyi & Sifuna

Miguna said Wanyonyi would be a worthy opponent in the gubernatorial race and cannot be compared to Baby Owino.

“Wanyonyi has substance, you cannot compare him with Babu, so I will give him a chance although he comes with a wrong party which messes everyone up.

“I would not dismiss Wanyonyi. Even if I ran against him, I would treat him as a worthy opposed and not these jokers,” he said.

Additionally, Miguna explained Sifuna has the academic qualifications and has attained the age to run for any office in Kenya.

He said Sifuna would be a better candidate compared Babu Owino since he is schooled and intelligent.

“Sifuna is not like the ones you have mentioned. You can’t compare Sifuna to Babu, they are not of the same class. Sifuna actually went to school properly,” he said.

Political Plan & Ruto’s Succession

Besides, Miguna said it is too early to announce whether he would run for any position and urged leaders to stop the early campaigns.

He also mentioned that Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua will not automatically succeed President William Ruto in 2032.
