Suba North Member of Parliament (MP) Millie Odhiambo has denied claims circulating online linking her to the alleged dismissal of a US-based medical practitioner, James Opande, from his place of work.
In a statement issued on March 19, Millie Odhiambo stated that she was not involved in any formal reporting process and added that if her post influenced any action by his employer, both parties remain open to legal scrutiny.
“So I have been told this morning: ‘You are trending. I know I have not posted anything major, so I also wonder why. Then I see questions on my thread on a condolence message,” she said.
“Why did you report Opande?” Then I try to figure out who the hell Opande is, and where and why I’m reporting him anywhere. Then I realize it’s a guy I once posted about on social media in relation to what he was said to have done to a woman. If his employer follows me and fires him based on my post, he is free to sue the employer and me.”
According to Millie, the only reason Opande was mentioned on her social media was in relation to allegations of misconduct involving a woman.
The legislator added that she will continue advocating against gender-based violence (GBV) and urged the public not to use her name to gain traction on social media.
Millie Odhiambo Denies Role in James Opande’s Alleged Dismissal
Her statement comes after she trended online and was accused of being involved in Opande’s dismissal.
The claims, allegedly from Opande, suggested that Suba North MP Millie Mabona had engineered his sacking.
“I wonder why Millie Odhiambo reported me to my employer and is still pushing for my deportation,” the alleged statement read.

Kenyans online reacted to the news, with some supporting Opande’s dismissal while others criticized it.
A Facebook user, Nelly Nyuttu, wrote: “I stand with boychild on this one. Respect is earned, not given to the undeserving. It’s on record that she posted the video herself, and her side hustle speaks a lot. Opande is no saint, but let’s be real on this one.”
Meanwhile, Pastor William Makora commented, “Opande James doesn’t deserve dignified employment. He’s uncultured.”

Why James Opande Trended Online
James Opande came under intense online criticism after an explicit video involving 23-year-old Marion Naipei was circulated.
Marion later accused Opande of leaking private footage that she says has ruined her life.
The incident reportedly took place at a local pub after the pair had visited a nearby club in January 2026.
Naipei claimed that she was drugged and intoxicated at the time, leaving her unaware that she was being filmed.
She believed Opande recorded the footage for his own use but eventually shared it online without her consent.
Naipei said she first met Opande, who is based in the United States, through the dating app Tinder in April 2025, and they had been communicating for several months before meeting in person.
Marion has since joined a local church led by Prophet Victor Kanyari, where she serves as an usher.
