Mombasa County Public Service Board has invited applications from qualified candidates for 259 jobs in the County Government of Mombasa.
In a notice on May 9, the County Board advertised vacancies in seven designations as follows: Inspectorate Officer (206), Rider (14), Clerical Officer II (16), Driver I (14), Records Management Officer III (1), Human Resource Management Assistant III (2) and Senior Support Staff (6).
“Interested and qualified candidates are required to complete employment application details from Mombasa County Public Service Board website www.mcpsb.go.ke,” the notice read in part.
“Certified copies of relevant Academic and Professional certificates and transcripts, Identity card or Passport and any other relevant supporting documents should be attached.”
The Board listed the qualifications of each of the seven positions together with the duties and responsibilities for each post.
Inspectorate Officer Jobs
Among the duties include enforcing county by-laws, national and international laws enacted from time to time.
The officers will safeguard County government properties, possessions, and control unauthorized persons from access to restricted areas.
Applicants must be a Kenyan citizen with a KCSE mean grade of D- (Minus) or KCPE with 3 years relevant working experience.
They must be physically fitness, possess a basic first aid certificate which will be an added advantage, and certificate of good conduct.
Riders
Mombasa is seeking riders who will conduct routine checks on motorbike cooling, oil, electrical and brake system, tyre pressure.
They will also detect, and report malfunctioning of motorbike systems and maintain work tickets for bike assigned.
Besides, riders will patrol areas inaccessible to police cars or cover a wider area than an officer on foot.
Applicants must have a rider’s license alongside other requirements mentioned in the first post.

Clerical Officer
The officers will compile statistical records, sort out and file letters, dispatch letters, maintain an efficient filing system, and preparing payment vouchers.
They will also be assisting in processing appointments, promotions, discipline cases, transfers, and other related duties in human resource management among other duties.
Interested candidates must be a Kenyan citizen with KCSE) Mean Grade C (Plain) and proficiency in computer application.
Driver I
The responsibilities of attached are similar to those of a rider only that it applies to vehicles.
Similarly, candidates must be a Kenyan citizen with a mean grade D (Plain) in KCSE or KCPE certificate with more than four years of working experience.
They must have a valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for the class (es) of vehicles.
Additionally, they must have passed a suitability test for driver grade III and possess a first aid certificate course and a certificate of good conduct.
“Please note only shortlisted candidates will be contacted through our official lines indicated on this advertisement. The closing date for the application shall be 24th May 2024,” the Board said.
Records Management Officer
Among the duties include compiling records, sorting, filing and dispatching letters and maintaining an efficient filling system.
Successful candidates will also be tasked with repairing and maintaining files including renewing file covers, storing, arranging, indexing, and classifying records and dispatching mails and maintaining registers.
Applicants must have a diploma in Records Management or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
“Officers with one (1) year experience will have an added advantage,” the Board said.
Human Resource Management Assistant III
Successful candidates will document cases for the Departmental Human Resource Management Advisory Committee and assist in the implementation of the decisions.
The officer may be required to implement certain decisions within the existing rules, regulations, and procedures.
They will handle simple tasks of an analytical nature, supervise clerical officers and other supporting staff, and verify information relating to recruitment, appointment, transfers.

Interested candidates must have a diploma in Human Resource Management, Records Management, or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Officers with one (1) year experience will have an added advantage while a proficiency in Computer application is mandatory.

Senior Support Staff
Support staff will undertake cleaning duties in the area of deployment and performing messengerial duties.
They will also prepare tea and washing utensils, guide junior staff and undertake any other related duties.
Candidates must be a Kenyan citizen and a holder of KCSE certificate, or KCE Division IV, or KCPE plus 2 year’s relevant experience.
Interested applicates must have at least three months’ experience in a related field and fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Successful candidates for the seven positions will sign a three-year contract.
