Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has denied claims that he received money to change his political stand concerning the forthcoming Kiambaa by-election.
This comes after Kuria’s People Empowerment Party (PEP) withdrew from the Kiambaa by-election in favor of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
In an interview with a local TV station, Kuria denied the claims when he was asked if he withdrew from the race after receiving KShs 50 million from Deputy President William Ruto.
“I have never received a single penny in my life to change my political position; there are people with billions in this country, but Moses Kuria does not have a price!” he stated.
Kuria noted the decision to support UDA was a painful decision to make as the PEP candidate was the best candidate for the Kiambaa by-election.
“If I were to go for money, I would go for Jubilee government’s money. If I didn’t take money from Jubilee, how would I take money from people who are out of government?”
The vocal politician reiterated he has never taken a single cent even from Jubilee to change his political stand and can never be bought.
Kuria had on Monday, May 24, said his party had resolved to withdraw from the race after holding extensive discussions with Ruto.
Both associated with the hustler nation, the two outfits were poised to clash in the mini poll as they had both fielded candidates.
The UDA party had unveiled John Njuguna as its flag-bearer in the contest while PEP had settled on Raymond Kuria.
The Kiambaa by-election is set to be held on July 15
