The Jubilee party led by its Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has accused President William Ruto of using the people of Mount Kenya as a cover up.
According to the SG, the people of Mount Kenya are not united as claimed by the president and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
Instead, Kioni stated that the people of Mount Kenya are divided and are being used to fuel political agendas in the country.
Moreover, Kioni stated that the government does not care about the needs of Kenyans adding that the constant talk about uniting the Mount Kenya community, is a cover up for how other communities are suffering.
“There is no unity in Mount Kenya. The people of Mount Kenya are just being used to cover up the mistreatment of other tribes in Kenya, especially the president himself.
“It is important that we stand up to such injustices and that is what we are trying to do. These talks about unity are lies,” stated Kioni.

Further weighing in on the matter, reformed Mungiki leader Maina Njenga stated that many political leaders from the Mount Kenya region had been fired from their positions and replaced with individuals from other communities.
“This government has been removing the people of Mount Kenya from power and replacing them with their allies.
“When they say that you have shares in the government, you should know that the truth is that you actually don’t. Those shares belong to other communities, and you have seen it,” Njenga stated.
Other Concerns Addressed by the Jubilee Party
Constitution Amendment
In addition, the party officials called for the amendment of the constitution to include clauses that hold the government accountable.
“We should have a constitution change that says if the government increases the taxes to a certain percentage, then that government should go. We cannot have a government that enslaves us,” a party official stated.
Mau Mau Compensation.
Moreover, Njenga called on the government to properly address the compensation of Mau Mau freedom fighters.
According to Njenga, some of the freedom fighters had died while others were already in their old age. Therefore, giving them pieces of land would not be beneficial to them.

Instead, Njenga asked that their close relatives and descendants be compensated.
“If there is land to be issued, then it is the children of the freedom fighters who should get the pieces of land. What will their old parents do with those pieces of land anyway?” Njenga stated.
Uhuru Kenyatta and Jubilee
When asked if retired President Uhuru Kenyatta was still actively involved in Jubilee affairs, Kioni stated that the party was made by its people, adding that they were seeking well-wishers to help fund the activities of the party and move it forward.
“You don’t have to always drag Uhuru Kenyatta into these matters. Jubilee is the people and we are moving on. In fact, we are looking for well-wishers to fund our activities,” added Kioni.
Gachagua on Mount Kenya Unity
Earlier on Friday, September 22, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua maintained that his work was to help President William Ruto unite the Mount Kenya region.
“We are united in this region, you see us, yet you don’t know much about us. We are one people and as long as our interests are not divided, we are one,” he stated.
Gachagua was speaking during the burial of freedom fighter Muthoni wa Kirima in Nyeri.
