The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has disclosed that the 10 bodies discovered in Mukuru Kwa Njenga on July 12 were all killed in similar ways.

According to the authorities, the victims were all female and in various stages of decomposition when discovered.

“Preliminary investigations suggest a similar mode of killing for the deceased,” said the DCI.

The DCI in a statement, noted that the bodies were discovered in the Villa area of Mukuru Kwa Njenga, where they were found dumped in a quarry filled with water and used as a dumpsite.

“The grim discovery was made at an abandoned quarry, currently filled with water and used as a dumpsite.”

DCI Details How the Bodies Were Found

Also, they revealed that the victims were wrapped in nylon papers and reinforced with nylon ropes.

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel from Embakasi quickly arrived at the scene after receiving an urgent call from the public.

“Earlier today at approximately 1100hrs, the Embakasi Division Police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) responded to an urgent call from the public in the Villa area of Mukuru Kwa Njenga.”

Upon their arrival they then retrieved the bodies from the scene and documented the area as part of their investigation.

The bodies were then transported to the City Mortuary, for postmortem examinations.

DCI Analyze the Mukuru Bodies for Identification

Furthermore, DCI informed the public that Homicide detectives and officers from the Forensics Division of the security body were currently analyzing samples so as to identify the bodies.

The area has since been cordoned off and designated as a crime scene as the investigation continues.

DCI Boss Mohamed Amin also made an appeal to the public asking them to cooperate with the authorities as the investigation progresses.

“As we await the findings from the post-mortem and forensic examinations, the DCI appeals to the public to cooperate with the authorities as investigations continue,” he said.

First Reports of The Incident

A local human rights organization identified as the Mukuru Community Justice Centre, was the first to raise alarm over the discovery of the bodies

The organization reported that the bodies were discovered near the Kware police station. by the area youth.

It was also revealed that some of the bodies were found in sacks, chopped into pieces and that at the time, a total of six bodies had been retrieved.

One of the youth who was present at the scene during the retrieval said that most of the bodies found were female.

“We initially spotted one body, so we tied one of us with a rope and dropped him into the quarry to go inspect and retrieve the body.”

‘It was during the process that we discovered that there was more than one body all in similar looking green sacks,” said the youth.
