The Nairobi Hospital has announced the August intake for its Higher Diploma Nursing programs at the Cicely McDonell College of Health Sciences.
In a notice on July 24, the Nairobi Hospital noted that the program provides a flexible learning experience that allows students to study while working, enabling them to apply their new skills in real-life situations.
“The Nairobi Hospital, Cicely McDonell College of Health Sciences invites applications from interested candidates who would like to undertake Higher Diploma in nursing specialties below.
Our mode of delivery offers a flexible program that enables you to study, work and transfer learnt skills in real time,” reads part of the statement.
Further, classes and clinical placements are scheduled for just two days a week, which it easier for students to balance their studies with their work and personal commitments.
In addition, the facility stated that the duration of each program is 18 months, consisting of theory lessons, hands-on training in clinical settings, self-directed learning, and project work.
“The course duration for all programs is 18 months which involves theory, clinical placements, self-directed learning and projects,” the Nairobi Hospital added.

Courses offered at Nairobi Hospital
The available courses include Kenya Registered Neonatal Nursing (KRNeoN) (Formerly Neonatal Critical Care Nursing) for KSH 273,150, Kenya Registered Critical Care Nursing (KRCCN) for KSH 280,650, Kenya Registered Oncology Nursing for KSH 273,150, Kenya Registered Nephrology Nursing for KSH 252,500, and Kenya Registered Perioperative Nursing for KSH 252,500.
Also to note, the tuition fees does not cover the cost of meals, accommodation, or other mandatory fees.

The Kenya Medical training college – KMTC is one of the most popular nursing trainers in the country, with students currently joining the institution through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
Universities offering Nursing degree in Kenya include Moi University, Kabarak University, Chuka University, the University of Nairobi, Maseno University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Meru University of Science and Technology and Daystar University.
Also, students have the option of applying for funding from the Higher Education Loans Board – HELB and government scholarships.
