Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya appeared before the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) after he accused Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua of turning his deputy against him.
In a statement on Tuesday, November 28, NCIC stated that Natembeya recorded a statement in response to the concerns raised by his deputy governor Philomenah Bineah Kapkory.
“Governor Natembeya today honored summons by NCIC and recorded a statement following complaints from his deputy.
The allegations include ethnic contempt and hate speech, investigations,” read the statement.
Natembeya Allegations
This comes after Natembeya told the Senate Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations Committee that Gachagua’s remarks during a Presidential meeting in Kakamega Hotel in August could have caused the fallout with his deputy.
Further, the governor said local politics and political mobilization along ethnic line might be reason for his bad relationship with Kapkory.
According to Natembeya, the DP mentioned that any political leader who missed the Kakamega meeting was not working with the Kenya Kwanza government.

“From that day, my deputy became very big headed. Actually, I have never seen her since that time. The problems started with the Kakamega function, which I did not attend.
With hindsight, I wish I had gate-crashed the President’s meeting, I would have avoided all these problems,” said Natembeya.
Additionally, the Azimio-allied governor explained that he was not invited to the meeting and was the target of Gachagua’s remarks.
Gachagua Invites Kapkory
In addition, Natembeya revealed that DP Gachagua invited Kapkory to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in the USA in September alongside other five governors.
The governor said Kapkory went ahead and attended UNGA assembly despite his warnings.

According to the governor, the invitation was unprocedural and had not benefit to the county government which had to cater for her travel expenses.
“In principle, I told her not to travel but she travelled. From the time she travelled on September 14, I have been waiting for her to come and explain to me why she travelled without express approval as has been before in other meetings,” he said.
Besides, Natembeya said that the statement that he was no longer with the Kenya Kwanza government made Kapkory believe that she can turn against him and become governor.
