The Executive Committee of the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) has appointed Sussie Ingosi Ndanyi as the new Deputy General Secretary, effective July 29, 2024.
In a statement on July 28, NCCK said as captured in its Constitution, Ndanyi will serve a one-year term, renewable once, within a six-year period.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Ndanyi to this vital role within our organization,” said Rev. Canon Chris Kinyanjui, General Secretary of NCCK.
“Her comprehensive expertise in church administration, advocacy, operational and financial oversight, risk assessment control, and policy formulation and implementation will be invaluable to our mission,” he added.
Sussie Ndanyi Qualifications
Ndanyi brings holds a Master of Business Administration in Project Management from Kenyatta University, a Master of Divinity in Peace and Justice from the Earlham School of Religion, and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Marketing from the University of Nairobi.
Her extensive experience includes serving on the Executive Board of the Friends World Committee for Consultation, leadership roles in the Friends United Meeting, and as Treasurer of NCCK Nairobi Region.

Ndanyi’s appointment is a significant step in the NCCK’s ongoing commitment to holistic transformation and building a just, resilient, and sustainable society.
The Council encourages the community to support her through prayer as she embarks on her new role.

The delegates in the conference, representing the missionary institutions working in the country at the time, affirmed their wish to work towards a united church that would impact the lives of the people.

NCCK Leadership
NCCK is led by a group of leaders dedicated to guiding the organization in its mission to promote Christian values and social justice.
At the helm is Archbishop Dr. Timothy Nzyoki Ndambuki, who serves as the Chairman.
Supporting him is Bishop Dr. John Okinda, the Vice Chairman, who brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the council.
The financial stewardship of the NCCK is overseen by John Thiongo, the Honorary Treasurer.
The day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the NCCK are coordinated by Rev. Canon Chris Kinyanjui, the General Secretary.
