Born in July 1973, Noordin Haji is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya having been admitted to the Bar in the year 1999.
Haji attended Kabarak High and Greensteds International School in Nakuru
He further proceeded to the University of Wales, Cardiff, Wales, UK where he obtained an LLM and LLB. He also holds an MNSPO (Masters Degree in National Security Policy) with merit from Australian National University and a post-graduate diploma from the Kenya School of law.
His father the late Senator Yusuf Haji was a career civil servant and long serving politician while his mother was a high school teacher.

Haji previously worked as a prosecutor for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and held the position of Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions. He also worked as a legal adviser in the Office of the President.
Haji has served as the Director of Public Prosecutions for the past six years.
Before becoming the DPP, he served as Deputy Director of the Counter Organised Crime Unit within the National Intelligence Service.
Haji was admitted to the Bar in 1999 and thereafter joined the Public Service in January 2000, working at the Attorney General’s Office
Haji’s nomination comes ahead of the retirement of Major-General (Rtd) Philip Wachira Kameru, the outgoing Director-General.
