The Clerk of the National Assembly has released the vetting order for nominated Cabinet Secretaries in parliament after President William Ruto announced the first and second batch.
In a notice on Wednesday, July 24, parliament stated that the Committee on Appointments has been given the greenlight to conduct approval hearings or vetting of the nominees.
This follows the submission of their names by the Head of State after their nomination to different ministries in the government.
Additionally, the statement indicated that the vetting sessions will take place beginning August 1, 2024, to August 4, 2024.
“WHEREAS on Tuesday, 23 July, 2024 and Wednesday, 24 July, 2024 the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the National Assembly referred nominees for appointment as Cabinet Secretaries to the Committee on Appointments to consider for approval by the House,
“The Committee on Appointments shall conduct Approval Hearings (Vetting) of the nominees from 1 to 4th August 2024 in the Mini-Chamber, County Hall, Parliament Buildings starting from 8.00 AM,” the notice read in part.

Time Slotted for Nominees by Parliament
Furthermore, each nominee has been slotted a specific time on dates varying between August 1, and August 4, 2024.
Kithure kindiki who has been nominated as the CS for Interior is first on the list and is expected to appear before parliament for vetting at 8:00 am on Thursday, August 1.
He will be followed by Deborah Barasa, the Health CS nominee who will appear at 11:00 AM, and later Alice Wahome who has been nominated to Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development ministry at 12:00 PM .
At the same time, Julius Migos Ogamba the nominee for the Education Ministry will be vetted on day one, coming in at 3:00 PM, followed by Roselinda Soipan Tuya nominated CS to the ministry of Defence who will appear before the committee at 5:00 PM.
Moreover, members of the public and nominees have been directed to the Parliament website to check the full schedule.

Sifuna Reveals Deadline for ODM CS Nominees to Leave Seats
Speaking on Citizen TVs Day Break, the Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has asked members who were nominated for different CS positions, to vacate their leadership positions.
Further, Sifuna said that they must make the move before appearing for vetting before parliament.
Some of the ODM nominees include (ODM) party chairman John Mbadi who was nominated to the National Treasury and Economic Planning ministry.
Also, Ruto nominated former Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho as CS for Ministry of Mining while Ugunja Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Opiyo Wandayi has been nominated to the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.
Additionally, former Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya has been nominated as CS for the Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
