Pastor Ezekiel has denounced controversial cult leader Paul Mackenzi, saying he had never preached with him at any point.
The preacher clarified that he has never stepped at Shakahola and never knew about the place up until the revelation of the massacre this year.
While appearing before Members of Parliament, the preacher told Senate committee that he knew Paul Mackenzie from TV by watching his sermons.
“I first came to know about Mackenzie in 2010 when I saw him on TV when he would be preaching, I never saw him again up until 2019,” said Pastor Ezekiel.
Further the televangelist explained how in his preaching he admired being on TV like many preachers he had watched.

“It rang on me that I was not seeing the Times TV and I did not know him or have his number since I have never met him in person, I asked Solomon to help me find him, so we got information if his TV was working,” said Ezekiel.
Pastor Ezekiel TV Deal
Pastor Ezekiel recounted his first and only meet up with Mackenzie at his home with other preachers.
Further asking Mackenzie if his TV was functioning and his response was yes but he was willing to sell it for three and a half million shillings.
“The TV is there and not yet cancelled, if we agree you can buy it at Khs3.5 million,” said Mackenzie.
The evangelist further told him, “I don’t have the three and half million instead five hundred Kenya shillings.”

Having the desire to appear on TV, Ezekiel made the payment and got the rights to use it further adding that he changed the name from Times TV to New Life TV.
“I did not pay anything much and that was our last talk and that is all I know about him,” said Ezekiel.
Morgue Allegations
The evangelist further dismissed allegations that he dumped bodies in mortuaries, further demanding answers from the mortuary attendants that spoke to the police about seeing him dump bodies in Shakahola.
“Who was the morgue attendant that raised concerns of me dumping bodies, why was he not mentioned, where are the records that show I booked bodies?”, said Ezekiel.
Senators summoned Pastor Ezekiel Odero of The New Life Prayer Centre alongside Pius Muiru of Maximum Miracles Center.
The committee is probing the circumstances leading to the deaths of hundreds of followers by fasting and buried in Shakahola, Kilifi County.
