Biography
Pastor Victor Mwangi Kanyari is a renowned pastor in Nairobi Kenya. He is the founder and senior pastor of the Salvation Healing Ministry.
Career
Kanyari’s church rose to fame after an exposé known as “mbegu ya 310” came to light. The exposé was done in 2014 when the pastor was accused of duping Kenyans into sending him money so that they could receive miracles.
The controversy led to the closure of the church until 2017 when the pastor rebranded and relaunched his church. He also changed his name from Pastor Kanyari to Pastor Mwangi.
After rebranding, the controversial pastor also launched several TV stations including SHIFU TV, Prophetic TV, Vicka TV, Dunny TV and Rockwell FM.

The 41-year-old pastor was born in March 1983 in Loitoktok, Kajiado County. His mother, Lucy Nduta, is also in ministry and is a prophetess. Pastor Kanyari is also the brother to the late Starlet Wahu who was murdered tragically in January 2024.
He is the ex-husband to singer Betty Bayo with whom he has two children. The two separated following the exposé.
Controversies
The pastor’s reputation has been marred by a series of controversies. The most famous one was the ‘mbegu ya 310’ that the pastor later admitted was a means of making money.
“… Lakini sikuwa na pesa, ndio maana nikaanza kuitisha Kshs310. Nikasema panda mbegu ya 310 na tusibishanebishane. Si kutaka kwangu, umaskini ulikuwa umenitandika sawasawa, – I didn’t have money that’s why I started asking for money. I didn’t want to do that, poverty made me do it,” Kanyari confessed.
Earlier in the year, he stirred controversy on the internet after a female TikToker named Faith M Peters presented Kanyari with controversial gifts in church. In another incident, he engaged in a sexually sensitive issue with a German-based gay TikToker Mpenzi Chkuu.

Pastor Kanyari owns a multi-billion palatial home along Kangundo Road and has posted a photo of him holding a bundle of notes. He has been ranked among top eight richest pastors in Kenya.
