Police officers have been captured on video roughing up and beating a student from the Multimedia University (MMU) next to hostel rooms.
In the video seen by The Kenya Times, a group of five police officers rush to approach the student who was walking alone near the hostels.
The officers stop him and rough him up. Shortly after, the officers are seen dragging the student along the ground.
One of them beats him up as they forcefully try to take him to a police van waiting nearby.
The student appears to be in pain and has difficulty walking and he begins to limp as the officers attempt to move him.

Police Lobs Teargas Next to Student’s Head
While most of the officers eventually leave the scene, two remain behind.
One officer stands guard, watching the surroundings, while the other kicks the student on his side as he lies helpless on the ground.
Seconds later, the officer places a tear gas canister next to the student’s head.
The canister explodes, releasing tear gas and sparks of fire. The student, struggling and in distress, tries to drag himself away from the area.
However, one officer comes back to push him towards the released teargas. The student gasping for breath as he tries to escape the fumes.
The video ends while the student is still on the ground in pain, while other comrades call him from the windows of the hostels.

MMU Students Protest
Multimedia University students held demonstrations on Tuesday morning over water scarcity in campus.
Earlier, staff and students struggled to put out a fire in one of the hostels as the protests continued.
Anti-riot police officers who were deployed at the institution engaged in fierce back and forth with the students who demanded better sanitation and welfare.
The National Police Service (NPS) is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
