Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwour alias Jalang’o has revealed that Orange Democratic Movement – ODM leader Raila Odinga backed his parliamentary seat campaigns in 2022.
The lawmaker revealed that the former Prime Minister who endorsed his ambitions boosted his campaign with Ksh5 million.
While speaking on Friday during an interview with TV47, Jalang’o said that his campaigns would have been very difficult without the support of the opposition chief.
“I know the big role that Baba played in me being a member of parliament. He supported me, he supported me not only by endorsing me but also financially,” he said.
“We are among the few people that Baba told to plan an event and he would grace it to support us in our election. He gave me personally Sh5 million,” he said.
Further, he added that it was not easy to beat the then Lang’ata MP Nickson Korir.
In the exclusive interview, the lawmaker said he is still esteemed to Raila adding that Azimio Leader sees him as a son.
“Baba knows very well, wherever he is right now, he knows that I am his son and Baba loves me so much,” he said.

Jalang’o Expulsion
Jalang’o was among the ‘rebel’ legislators that the orange party kicked out, with Raila’s outfit accusing them of betrayal.
According to ODM, the MPs are wrong to support President William Ruto‘s government, which the opposition wing does not recognize.
However, the lawmakers have vowed to continue working with the ruling regime for the sake of development for their people.
The team had visited President William Ruto at State House on Tuesday, February 7.
According to ODM, all lawmakers who have switched sides and gone against party position should go back to the ballot and seek fresh mandate from the people either as independent candidates or using a party of their choice where they belong.
