President William Ruto and Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning John Mbadi on November 8 made several appointments.

In a gazette notice dated November 9, the President and the Treasury CS appointed several people to parastatal positions.

On his part, President Ruto appointed Elisha Busienei to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the School Equipment Production Unit.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (a) of the State Corporations Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Elisha Busienei to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the School Equipment Production Unit, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 8th November, 2024,” read the notice in part.

SEPU is a government agency under the Ministry of Education with a sole mandate of designing, manufacturing, supplying, and distributing science materials and apparatus to educational institutions in Kenya.

Mbadi appoints former politicians to state positions

At the same time, Treasury CS appointed three individuals to the Board of the Local Authorities Provident Fund as members.

The members include Samwel Kariuki Maina, Beatrice Kones, a former Member of Parliament Bomet East, and Millicent Nyaboke.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (1) (a) of the Local Authorities Provident Fund Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints Samwel Kariuki Maina, Beatrice Kones, Millicent Nyaboke, to be members of the Board of the Local Authorities Provident Fund, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 8th November 2024,” read the gazette notice.

Treasury CS makes appointment at the Consolidated Bank

Additionally, the Treasury CS made two appointments at the Consolidated Bank Limited.

The two, namely Harun Kipkemei and Florence Auma Oluoch, will serve as members of the Board of Directors, for a period of (3) three years up to the 8th of June 2026.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (e) of the State Corporations Act, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints Harun Kipkemei, Florence Auma Oluoch,” read the notice.

Mbadi also made other appointments which include the appointment of Michael Waititu Maina as a member of the Nairobi International Financial Centre Authority in which he will serve up to May 18, 2026.
