President William Ruto has been honoured with one of Kazakhstan’s highest state awards during his official visit to the Central Asian nations.
The recognition was conferred during his official visit to the Central Asian nation, where discussions are ongoing to strengthen bilateral relations between Kenya and Kazakhstan.
Speaking during the ceremony, the head of state emphasized shared values of peace, unity, and international cooperation.
“As I wear this star and sash, I do so with reverence for the values they embody: unity, respect, and solidarity. I accept this honour on behalf of the people of Kenya, who stand with the people of Kazakhstan in the pursuit of harmony and prosperity,” said Ruto.
The award highlights growing diplomatic engagement between the two countries and reflects efforts to deepen cooperation across political, economic, and cultural spheres.
President Ruto attended the ceremony alongside Kazakhstan’s president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and other senior officials.
Ruto Receives Kazakhstan’s Order of Dostyk First Degree
President Ruto was formally conferred with the Order of Dostyk, First Degree, one of Kazakhstan’s most prestigious decorations, during the state ceremony in Astana.

The Order of Dostyk First Degree award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to strengthening friendship, cooperation, and mutual understanding between Kazakhstan and other nations.
The honour was presented by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in recognition of Ruto’s efforts to enhance diplomatic relations and promote international collaboration.
The Order of Dostyk, which translates to the Order of Friendship, is among the highest civilian awards in Kazakhstan and is reserved for distinguished global figures who contribute to peace and cooperation.
In his acceptance remarks, Ruto described the award as a symbol of the strong and growing ties between Kenya and Kazakhstan.
He said he received it with humility and gratitude, noting that it represented not just personal recognition but also a broader connection between the people of both countries.
“This award is not only a personal recognition but a luminous symbol of the enduring friendship between Kenya and Kazakhstan. It reflects our shared commitment to peace, cooperation, and the enrichment of cultures across continents,” said Ruto.

During the address, Ruto emphasized the importance of unity, respect, and solidarity in strengthening international partnerships.
Ruto added that he was accepting the award on behalf of the people of Kenya, noting that Kenyans stand together with the people of Kazakhstan in pursuit of harmony and prosperity.
Kenya has in recent years intensified efforts to build stronger economic and political partnerships with countries in Asia, the Middle East, and Central Asia as part of its broader foreign policy agenda.
President Ruto expressed optimism about the future of Kenya-Kazakhstan relations, saying the conferment of the award should mark a stronger partnership between the two nations.
“May this moment mark the strengthening of our partnership and may the bonds of Dostyk and friendship continue to flourish between our nations for generations to come,” he stated.
