President William Ruto has sent a message to former U.S President Donald Trump after he was shot in the ear on Saturday, July 13, during an election rally at Butler, Pennsylvania.

In a statement on July 16, Ruto said the government and people of Kenya condemn Trump’s shooting and assassination attempt.

“On behalf of the people and government of the Republic of Kenya, I wish to add my voice to those condemning the recent attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald J. Trump,” Ruto said.

Museveni Condemns Assassination Attempts

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni earlier expressed his sympathies to President Trump after the shooting incident.

Museveni condemned the incident, describing it as an act of cowardice, and extended his condolences to the family that lost their loved one.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Uganda, and on my own behalf, I wish to convey our deep and heartfelt sympathies to His Excellency,” Museveni said.

“At the same time, I condemn this despicable and cowardly assassination attempt that put his life and that of his supporters at risk.”

He added that as freedom fighters and peace-lovers, Uganda condemns political violence because it threatens democracy wherever it manifests.

Museveni further wished President Trump and all those injured a speedy recovery.

Trump Shooting Incident

Trump was shot after a gunman opened fire at his campaign rally, killing one spectator. The incident occurred about six minutes into his speech.

Trump grabbed his right ear and then dropped to the floor, where he was immediately surrounded by Secret Service agents who piled on top of him to protect him.

The agents then helped Trump stand up and escorted him from the stage to a waiting vehicle.

With blood on the side of his head and ear, Trump repeatedly pumped his fist in the air and waved as the crowd cheered.

The US Secret Service confirmed the shooter’s death and injuries to two other spectators.
