The Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ) has released a statement following remarks made by the Trade and Industrialization Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria regarding media reports on one of the many scandals that have hit the Kenya Kwanza government.
According to the statement signed by the KUJ Secretary General Eric Oduor, the union told Kuria “Sober up, you are becoming a national shame”.
“We would wish to remind Mr. Kuria that he is now a Cabinet Secretary, whose actions and utterances should promote positive image of Kenya as a nation, in line with tenets of leadership and integrity law.” Read the statement in part.
“His reactions to media reports regarding one of the many scandals that have hit the Kenya Kwanza administration in a span of 10 months are not only embarrassment to Kenyans, but also a confirmation that his stomach is full, and can belch and eventually vomit on the shoes of hungry Kenyans with impunity” the statement further said.

KUJ further said that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua should cast his net further and include leaders in his fight to get rid of rampant alcohol consumption in the country.
“While we support the ongoing initiatives by deputy president Rigathi Gachagua to deal with the effect of rampant alcohol consumption in the country, it is out opinion that for this war to bear fruits, he should cast the net wider to rid of county leaders who are not in control of their faculties.” Reads the statement.
