State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed has clarified the relationship between President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
Amid preparations for Ruto’s upcoming visit to the United States, Mohamed emphasized that there are no issues causing strain between the two leaders.

During a press briefing addressing Ruto’s forthcoming trip, Mohamed reiterated the mutual respect shared between the President and his deputy.
He pointed out that the two offices function in harmony and maintain cordial relations.

“Now that you asked about the President and the deputy president, to my knowledge, there is no issue. The Deputy President’s Office is an office with all the capabilities and competencies,”
“If you want to ask any question or find out anything about the Deputy President, they have all the capabilities, and you can find whatever information you need there.” stated Mohamed.

Potential Split Reports
The clarification comes amidst swirling rumors suggesting a potential split within the Kenya Kwanza faction.
Adding weight to Mohamed’s remarks, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made his first public appearance on Sunday May 19 since the emergence of these speculations.
Gachagua attended a church service at Endarasha Catholic Church in Kieni, Nyeri County, signaling his commitment to his duties and dispelling any doubts regarding the alleged discord within the political camp.
National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro addressed the concerns of Kenyans regarding the recent absence of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from the political scene.
Speaking on Saturday, May 18, Osoro clarified that Gachagua has taken some time off to rest.

“I’ve seen people raise issues with the absence of the Deputy President in the political scene. The Deputy President can also relax. He has been worked up for some time and has now taken a break for a week or so, let him relax,” Osoro explained
President Ruto’s USA Visit Itinerary
Statehouse spokesperson Hussein Mohamed outlined Ruto’s schedule, starting Monday, May 20, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia and extending until Thursday, May 23, when he will meet with President Joe Biden.
On Tuesday in Atlanta, President Ruto will visit Spelman College and then later explore opportunities within the creative economy at Tyler Perry Studios, visit the Coca-Cola company to discuss new investments, and launch Vivo’s inaugural store.
The day will end with a dinner hosted by Atlanta’s mayor, Andre Dickens, which Ruto will attend with Rachel Ruto.
Wednesday will see President Ruto traveling to Washington, DC, where he will receive full ceremonial state honors.

His agenda includes meetings with a congressional delegation and discussions on Capitol Hill.
On Thursday, Ruto and the First Lady will lay a wreath at Arlington Cemetery to honor American soldiers and historic figures.
This will be followed by a bilateral meeting with President Biden to discuss development opportunities.
