The Aga Khan Schools in Kenya are run by the Aga Khan Education Services, Kenya (AKESK), a non-profit organisation. These schools offer a range of curricula, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Kenyan National Curriculum (KCSE and CBC).

The Aga Khan Schools attend to multicultural student populations without discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity or religion. They have 5 branches in Kenya:

Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi

It was started in 1970. Located in Parklands Area, Nairobi, the school is one of Kenya’s leading schools. It serves over 1000 students from diverse backgrounds.

The Academy is dedicated to creating an amicable balance between academics, sports, cultural activities and community engagement.

This helps to foster engagement, fostering ethical, pluralistic leaders with a global perspective, according to the school’s website.

It offers the KCSE curriculum and is situated in Westlands, along Waiyaki Way.

Aga Khan High School, Mombasa

Founded in 1918, it was the first school in the Aga Khan network. The current building dates to 1951.

It houses two schools, the Aga Khan Nursery School and Aga Khan Primary School.

The school offers a broad-based, multi-disciplinary education with emphasis on languages, sciences, humanities, technical subjects and student-centred teaching/learning.

Admissions are open to students scoring 300 marks and above in KCPE for Form 1, with interviews to assess fit with the school’s values. Transfers from other KCSE schools require a B-average and a clean conduct record.

Aga Khan Nursery School, Eldoret

It is located along Uganda Road, Uasin Gishu County, Kenya. The school caters to children aged 2 to 6 years by providing 21st-century teaching and learning experiences, according to the school website.

Thanks to AKES, the school employs leading international methods for teaching and learning.

The school follows the common plan of work for East Africa Aga Khan Schools, which serves to give holistic growth to the child who can take on challenges in a changing society and fulfil their roles and duties to their fullest potential.

Students have an option of staying on in the afternoon from Monday to Wednesday, during which time they engage in various club activities like cookery, swimming, art and craft, scouts or learn to play a musical instrument.

Fees Structure and Notable Alumni

The Aga Khan Schools in Kenya do not publicly give out information but send emails to every interested individual through their respective emails.
