A viral post making rounds on social media, featuring a list of Principal Secretaries, claims that major sections of the PSs are going to be sacked as President William Ruto plans reshuffle.
The list surfaced hours after 109 Kenyans were shortlisted for the PS positions
According to the list, only 18 PSs out of 51 are set to be retained as President Ruto reshuffles the PSs.
According to the list, those to be retained included Interior PS Raymond Omollo (Internal Security), Devolution PS Teresia Mbaika, Treasury PS Chris Kiptoo, Foreign Affairs PS Korir Sing’oei, Lands PS Nixon Korir, Diaspora PS Roseline Njogu, and PS for the State Department of Economic Planning, James Muhati.
On the other hand, the post claimed that PSs including Julius Bitok, Education PS Belio Kipsang, PS for Higher Education and Research Beatrice Inyangala, Harry Kimutai, Peter Tum, and Industry PS Juma Mukhwana were among those to be sacked.
Post With List of PSs to be Reshuffled is Fake
However, a search by The Kenya Times has confirmed that the list is fake.
Some of the names mentioned in the post do not match the actual dockets held by the PSs.
The list circulating online is based on outdated information, with the names and roles of the PSs being from an earlier roster.

For instance, the fake list places Harry Kimutai, the current PS for the State Department for Medical Services, as the PS for Livestock Development, a position held by Jonathan Mueke.
Meanwhile, Mueke is incorrectly listed as the PS for Sports, a position currently held by Peter K. Tum.
Meanwhile, the list incorrectly lists Tum as PS for Medical Services, a role currently held by Harry Kimutai further complicating the confusion.
Fake Lists Do Not Match Docket
Additionally, Kello Harsama, the PS for the State Department for Arid and Semi-Arid Lands and Regional Development, has been wrongly listed as the PS for the State Department for Crop Development and Agricultural Research.

The correct holder of this position is Paul Ronoh, who, in turn, has been mistakenly placed as PS for the State Department for Water and Sanitation, a role held by Julius K. Korir.
Korir is incorrectly listed as the PS for Cabinet Affairs, a position currently held by Idris Dogota, who is listed as the PS for the State Department for ASALs.
Other errors include the placement of Veronica Mueni Nduva, the PS for the State Department for Performance and Delivery Management, in the docket of Gender and Affirmative Action, a position held by Ann Wang’ombe—who, notably, was not mentioned in the viral post.
One of the most glaring red flags is the inclusion of Esther Ngero, who resigned as PS in May 2023, further highlighting the falsehoods in the viral post.
This comes after former KNUT Secretary-General Wilson Sossion, ex-KMPDU Secretary-General Ouma Oluga, and political commentator Gabriel Oguda were among 109 individuals shortlisted for Principal Secretary positions.
Additionally, former Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu Mwenda and former Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) David Osiany were among those nominated for roles following changes within some executive ranks.
