A senior United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party official has responded to nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba after her protest over the summons she received.
In a statement on Saturday, UDA Treasurer Japheth Nyakundi, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kitutu Chache North constituency, said loyalty is the only price a politician can pay to the party.

“The only price you pay in politics is loyalty to the party and the party leader,” Nyakundi said.
He further condemned her for having gone against the party’s political position. MP Nyakundi added that the Orowba was no longer a member of UDA and wished hr “well with her new party and new party leader”.

“You have disregarded all that, we wish you all the best with your new party leader,” Nyakundi stated.
“As for UDA, we are done with you, you are no longer a party member. You can’t bite the hands that feed you. Mengine yatafwata.”

The UDA Treasurer was reacting to a post by Orwoba, who had issued an indirect warning to stating that the Gusii region was watching him and Majority Whip MP Sylvanus Osoro, two high-ranking legislators in the ruling party.

“Good morning, Sylvanus Osoro and Japheth Nyakundi, the Gusii Community is watching you. Happy Sabbath,” Orwoba stated.
This brought reactions from the citizens as some supported her movement while others criticized her.

“Gloria don’t mind, you can’t kneel to either Nyakundi or Ruto to survive or feed, keep your head high n forward. UDA is just a matter of time,” Cyrus Makori commented.
Hon.Risper Kemunto, a member of the Kisii County assembly, commented, saying that Gloria will use the post against MP Nyakundi in the court of law.

“Mhesh, she will use this as her defence in the court of law. She will argue that you being a party official by this post looks like you already have a pre-determined outcome, so the party not giving her a fair hearing,” she explained.
Samuel Nyakundi also commented to the post terming it as a threat and advising that it should be ignored.
“That’s a threat. Resign and leave them pay the price for defending their party. Why the controversy. Okenyuri is a living example of decency.”
UDA Summoned Orwoba after recent events where the Senator accompanied former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i during his homecoming event in Kisii and Nyamira counties.
